Wrap it Christmas

Monday, December 23, 2013 2 Comments A+ a-

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! Hope you all are enjoying the festive season. Following on from my handmade Christmas stationery I also made gift wrap using paints, rubber stamps and even a Spirograph! Gifts were decorated with handmade yarn and tinsel pom poms and clay ornament toppers.
Each year I like to choose a fun, bright colour scheme, so this year I went for gold with hints of neon pink and orange.
Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas Stationery

Thursday, December 19, 2013 3 Comments A+ a-

Christmas is one of the most exciting and busiest times for crafting for me...and I'm sure many of you!
I have spent November and this month working on cheerful and colourful projects to decorate the tree, house and gift to loved ones. One of the first things for the holiday season I made was this little Xmas themed stationery set, that included a Gift tag, bookmark, mini notebook and card - all done with rubber stamps and colourful cardboard. By combining some of the rubber stamps together on a page, I created festive scenes and motifs.

As it begins to feel 'a lot like Christmas', I am thinking of and missing New York. I was there for a Christmas past - last year at the most 'wonderful time of year' during the...as New Yorkers would say 'Happy Holidays'! Celebrating and getting lost in its gorgeous winter wonderland. Here are a few of the things I love and miss most about being in New York this time of year.

Mt x Melbourne

Monday, December 02, 2013 4 Comments A+ a-

Thanks to Notemaker the official Japanese Masking Tape company came to our Aussie shores recently for a pop-up space in Melbourne Central. Off-course I made a special trip from Sydney to check it out! I was in heaven looking at mt's new range, limited edition and special edition aussie themed tapes. Loved seeing the polka dot cardboard boxes and big rolls of washi tape hanging from the pop-up space walls - so used to seeing these in instagram snaps (#mtmaskingtape) at mt expos all over Japan and Singapore. How cute are the cubby houses? I want to have a go at making one!

Pretty little details

I love experimenting with doilies - I often use them as present toppers. This doily has been stitched and collaged with ribbons, scrap paper, washi tape, love heart bubble wrap, cellophane, handmade pom-pom, postage stamps and stickers.
A sweet touch for embellishing a gift.

Tickets, brochures, business cards and product wrapping and packaging. These are just some of the things I like to collect on each holiday. For my mini-break to Surfer's Paradise in Queensland I handmade this little 'holiday notebook' with all my paper souvenirs from the trip and some polka dot paper I designed as well as paper food. Highlights of the getaway included: Japanese burger franchise Mos Burger, marine-life at Sea World and snow cones!, relaxing and making sandcastles on the beach, eating at trendy cafe Commune and shopping at Burleigh Heads Village Markets and stationery store Six Things.

Envelope clippings

I just love magazines! So much so that after I have read them I often find it hard to part with them. But if I kept them all I probably could fill a whole house! For this reason I prefer to give them to family and friends to read or recycle them and use them for collaging or turning my favourite pages into envelopes!

Here are some I made a couple of weeks ago. I like how they instantly make an interesting envelope from the back as well!

It's a good day in mt land! A few posts ago I wrote about a DIY idea for making a washi tape memento to make of your fave washi tapes to record in your scrapbook or send to pen pals. It seems that mt had a similar idea with their new mt maki maki tool. I would love to thank Vivian (her blog is super sweet too)for leaving a comment on my washi tape memento post and letting me know about this amazing device - it was something I just had to share with you all as well.
Oh boy I just hope this gets to Australia super fast! Check out the video and pictures below from the official mt website. I also love the idea of using them as decoration for a tote bag - totes amaze!

Hiya! I have not posted in a few weeks as I have been busy working on some new projects putting ideas into fruition. One of the things I love to do before beginning a new project is making little mood boards and experimenting with my collection of paper, stationery and any other bright and fun materials in my craft box.

So if a lazy crafternoon sounds like something that you would like to do, I encourage you to get out a few of your own bits and bobs, don't forget the scissors, paper punches and glue....with
