Snail Mail

A huge part of my craft making has been dedicated to the art and love of snail mail. I even wrote and designed a zine about it last year called Happy Mail Days.

Given my love for handmade correspondence, I was thrilled to see the love for snail mail being further spread around the globe with the new book release, Snail Mail by Michelle Mackintosh, published by Hardie Grant.

I'm also very excited to say and extremely honoured to have been included in this amazing publication profiled on the 'Pen Pal' pages and also having some of my mail featured on a few pages throughout the book - talk about a dream come true!

World Mail Day

Today, October 9th is World Mail Day! So happy mail days to you all!!
Why not dedicate a little time today to put pen to paper, post a postcard, write a letter and send pretty decorated mail art to a pen pal, friend or loved one. To celebrate the art of analogue correspondence I would love to share with you some of my recent outgoing mail.

Character Cutie Bag

2014 MCA Zine Fair

Hiya! Today I am sharing a few snaps (sorry about the images did not take my SLR camera on the day) of my stall at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art Zine Fair that was held last Sunday, May 25th. What an amazing day it was!! A huge thumbs up to the MCA crew for hosting such an amazing event. BIG thank you to those who popped by and said hi at my stall or who bought one of my zines! Hope you are all enjoying them. Also met and made a few new lovely pals who were fellow zine stall holders.

Happy Mail Day Zine

Introducing my new publication - Happy Mail Day zine!!
As you know from my many posts I LOVE mail art and posting snail mail to pen pals and friends across the globe. So it was only natural that I dedicate a whole publication to 'Happy mail days'!
Inside you will find ideas about decorating your mail, creating themed kits, handmade stationery and papercraft Diys and more!

I am thrilled to say that I will be launching my 'Happy Mail Day' zine this Sunday (May 25th) at the MCA zine fair! An event that is part of the Annual Sydney Writers Festival. As a fellow zine maker and reader I have attended the MCA Zine fair event for the past few years. But for the first time this year I decided to apply for a stall and I was so delighted when I was accepted and given a place in this years fair.

So please do come and say hi if you do decide to come and check it out - would love to see and meet you.
Admission to the MCA Zine Fair is free and is open from 11am-4pm.

As well as launching my 'Happy Mail Day' zine I will also be selling my 'Pop Goes your Mail' letter art kits, 'Japan in A Collection' zine, mini hard copies of 'Little Book of Mt Masking tape' and 'My Life in Biscuits' zines.
Off course there will be a few more other paper-themed surprises exclusive to the days event!!

Love Letters

Happy Valentine's Day!

To celebrate I styled up this little love letter themed shoot for the day. Making a mail box, envelope, postage stamps, confetti, gift bow topper, heart jam biscuit notebook, washi tape rosette, love note-card and a origami perfume bottle.

I will also be packaging up some of the handmade contents into a love mail pack for a friend.

jour de valentines heureux!

DIY: 'Be Mine' Chocolate Box

Remember those pastel-coloured 'Love Note' solid sherbet, heart lollies that you used to buy from the school canteen or retro lolly shop? Well, inspired by those sweets I created this 'Be Mine' chocolate box. A romantic, yummy filled gift for a friend or loved one to enjoy, this Valentines Day!

Wrap it Christmas

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! Hope you all are enjoying the festive season. Following on from my handmade Christmas stationery I also made gift wrap using paints, rubber stamps and even a Spirograph! Gifts were decorated with handmade yarn and tinsel pom poms and clay ornament toppers.
Each year I like to choose a fun, bright colour scheme, so this year I went for gold with hints of neon pink and orange.
Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas Stationery

Christmas is one of the most exciting and busiest times for crafting for me...and I'm sure many of you!
I have spent November and this month working on cheerful and colourful projects to decorate the tree, house and gift to loved ones. One of the first things for the holiday season I made was this little Xmas themed stationery set, that included a Gift tag, bookmark, mini notebook and card - all done with rubber stamps and colourful cardboard. By combining some of the rubber stamps together on a page, I created festive scenes and motifs.

Let's make Onigiri!

Konichiwa! Today I'm going to share with you how to make Japanese onigiri!(a rice ball like sandwich) Yummy!
Super easy to make, healthy and great for packing in your lunch bag/bento for work/school or to enjoy on a picnic.

Ok. Let's get started.

Pusheen The Cat Kit

One of my good friends just loves cute character Pusheen the cat.
So for her birthday I handmade her a little Pusheen kit that includes a felt plushie decoration, mini notebooks and stickers.
I just love making fun themed kits like this.

Press: SMH

A month back I was interviewed by my local city paper on Kawaii businesses sweeping OZ. It featured in all the Aussie papers around the nation, running in the Sydney Morning Herald, Canberra Times, Brisbane Times, WA Today and The Age Melbourne in the small business section.

Post Outgoing

Just a few of my latest outgoing post creations. The first one has a bit of an Mexicana inspired vibe and the last is decorated in dots using a homemade rubber stamp. Sending out mail also allows me to use my latest washi tape buys - loving the below rainbow one!
Hope they put a smile on the faces of its recipients!

Eggstatic!

Happy Easter!

Hope you all have an eggstatic day! The four day mini-break for me has allowed me to have fun with some Easter themed crafts. A great excuse to make something with my fave craft tool too - washi tape eggs! They are a great decorative item to hang on flower branches or for decorating a gift!

Head on over and have a squiz, I'm sure you will find more goodness clicking through their blogs that will keep you busy for hours!

Let's Make!

Let's make a little gift pack full of cuteness! A great surprise treat for friends.

Mini photo flip books

I like making mini photo flip books! They make a cute treat to pop in the post to friends. I created this little "Kawaii Pop" themed one using some pictures of my crafty projects, purchases and pretty packaging. Why not make one yourself? All you need is a theme, paper, printer, scissors, staples and washi tape to bind!
