Nestled in the historic country town of Daylesford, Melbourne is a quaint emporium of delight - a shop called Lark. Lark is run by the wonderful Allison Jones and her family. In the shop decor you can see glimpses of the UK and Japan, it's like a gallery of handmade where Lark stocks some of our most loved international designers like; Cath Kidston, Rice, Belle & Boo, Beci Orpin, Paumes and Rob Ryan etc.
Their focus is to bring us gifts from around the world for you, the home and kids. At Lark you can find books, zines, Japanese Zakka, prints and stationery.

Tokyo Potted Plants

My latest love is Tokyo Potted Plants whether they are sitting outside in front of quaint Tokyo houses or cafes and indoors among zakka. They are potted in colourful and patterned pots, white ceramics, terracotta or used household items like milk bottles and food cans. They can also be seen hanging on walls and used to decorate the usually mundane outside wall pipes - so clever. I am now inspired to make my own indoor plant area at home and am now on the look out for some cute Bonsai, Succulents and cacti for my garden.

A4 Paper Festival Opening

Friday, June 03, 2011 3 Comments A+ a-

The A4 Paper Festival had their opening night on Tuesday at The Paper Mill in Sydney and I got the wonderful task of selling zines at their zine stall.
The stall included zines from Mechelle B - folks loved her 'Little book of bearded chaps', Georgia Perry,Paper conventions very own Kit Palaskas whose Tiny book of disguises almost sold out and Paper Jewellery artist Anna Gleeson who was also exhibiting had a zine called 'A Playful search of beauty' which I wanted to purchase. As you can see by the table, so much to choose from. I also got to sell copies of my 'Little Book Of Mt Masking Tape' zine and 'Snap Tokyo Girls Bunting'.

It was clear that A4 Paper Festival founder Lisa Loxley's hard work paid off by seeing all the amazing paper artists she had curated for the event. Trial & Error's Paper City and Anna Gleeson's Paper Jewellery greeted exhibit goers in Paper Mill's street windows, inside were installations and 3D Paper works by; Hattie Newman, Jesse Brown, Matthew Roland and Benja Harney.I was in awe of Japan's Yoshinobu Miyamoto's giant paper dome sculpture! Some of these artists will be doing workshops hosted by the Paper Convention, so get in quick for tix!

Other stalls included The Paper Convention table which was selling posters, programs (works of art in itself) paper glasses, paper puzzle and Japanese paper airvase baskets from Upon a fold.

All paper from the night and for workshops are supplied by K.Doggett fine paper. I could see many people through the night having fun making paper dogs and notebooks. Love the hanging confetti pinatas!

It was a PAPER PARTY!
