Melbourne Mini-Break

Monday, June 18, 2012 14 Comments A+ a-

Did you all have a fabulous weekend? I headed to Melbourne for a shopping mini break. Can you see a recurring theme in my purchases? Picked up some polka dot tapes, happy socks, stickers, picnic mat and a Baggu bag - such a cute little invention. Finally bought an Emily Green necklace (been wanting one for yonks) and a little notebook for jotting down ideas found at sweet Japanese stationery shop Kami in Fitzroy. Must stores to check out if your in the city also includes Yen store Tokuya, Vincent 2, Craft Victoria, Wilkins and Kent, Little Salon and Ganim's - who stock the original surprise balls by Gina Namkung!Check out some other cool stores from my little trip in the snaps below.
A Hello Kitty tram!!
I can't help myself when it comes to biz cards and free press!
Great souvenirs for a travel journal ^_^
I stumbled upon this AMAZE little shop called Pet Shop Girls that have Japanese fashion, merchandise and awe-cute wall artwork. It was like I was at Shibuya 109 in Tokyo.
Ha! Pudgy Panda - what a name for a store - my look at the Hello Kitty Zakka!
I travelled out to Brunswick just to go to the Mr Kitly store. A gallery space that also sell Japanese zakka, books, zines, stampel plant hangers and other delightful things.
The washi tape collection at Magnation.
Love Third Drawer down a quirky store in Fitzroy that stock the wonderful confetti systems! Saving my pennies for one of these.
I always make a trip to zine store Sticky Institute when I am in Melbourne. My first zine was once stocked here.
Metropolis - My fave Melbourne bookstore.

THE EATS
Commercial bakery, finally found this on my third trip to Melbs, it's hidden on a corner of a CDB alley.
Lots of cosy cafes can be found in the CBD on Degraves street and this cute cupcake place.
Ooh la la! My hubby and I dined at the Hopetoun Tea Room! Drooling started at the window view.
Started one of the days with a warm breakfast at The Journal.

I'm from Melbourne, but I don't know any of those places! I have been living in QLD for the past 19 years, so I guess things have changed alot since I left. I am having a mini holiday in Sydney next week, just so I can go to Kinokuniya to get my Japanese book fix!
